De Arter

Many years after the war, Arthur Allcock and Bert Swindells returned to Austria and Sulz, in an attempt to locate the farm where they worked as POWs. Walking across fields, they asked a farmer in broken German if he could help them locate the village. The farmer looked in shock at Arthur, removed his hat, and said, "You, you are De Arter!" Arthur and Bert froze in shock when they realised that this man was the boy who they had played with on the farm many years before.
